Would a hot tub do more harm than good for arthritis or other joint problems?

I have about a 2 month wait until I see a rheumatologist. It is likely that I have arthritis, fibromyalgia or some other joint disorder/problem of some kind.
But in the mean time, I am in unbelievable pain a great deal of the time. I am only 19.
I have some swelling in my knees, hips, and ankles…
Would sitting in a hot tub help? Or could I do more damage than good?
I mean I’ve gone this long without it…if there is a risk of making things worse, I can continue to live without it. But if there is a chance it would help provide temporary relief, it would be worth it right? So is it bad or good for arthritis/unknown joint disorder?
We have a small portable hot tub that I never use. My mom keeps it at 104 when we use it. Is that too high?
